Whitney Houston Died

Whitney Houston, who reigned as the king of pop music until his majestic voice and real image were shattered by drug use, has died. He was 48.

Kristen Foster's publicist said Saturday that the singer had died with unknown cause and the place where he died.

At the peak of his success in the 1980 and 1990, Houston was the golden girl of the music industry and one of the greatest artists with record sales. Among its successes are How Will I Know , Saving All My Love for You and I Will Always Love You .

He won multiple Grammys, including album of the year, and even participated in films like The Bodyguard . But at the end of his career he passed drug bill, his voice became hoarse and raspy and his record sales slumped.

Whitney had a perfect voice and image: an impressive singer who had sex appeal but that never exceeded his talent.

Whitney influenced a whole generation of singer Christina Aguilera up from Mariah Carey, who had a voice so similar to that of Houston, when it debuted many of the blur.

At the end of his career, Houston became a drug addict. The album sales fell and never regained a success. His serene image ever became an incorrigible and bizarre, especially in his public appearances. She confessed as addicted to cocaine, marijuana and pills. Her voice was ever talented hard hit, which prevented him from reaching the higher levels it once had.

"The great demon is inside me. I am two things: my best friend or my worst enemy, "Houston said the journalist Diana Sawyer in a famous interview in 2002.

It was a tragic fall for a superstar who once was among the best selling pop artists of all time with over 55 million albums sold in the U.S. only.
