St. John's IceCaps vs Norfolk Admirals, May 19, 2012

Alexandre Picard scored twice Saturday to lead the Norfolk Admirals to a 3-1 win over the St. John's IceCaps and a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven American Hockey League Eastern Conference Final. The teams return to St. John's, N.L., for Game 3 on Monday. Goaltender Dustin Tokarski was solid for the Admirals, turning back 30 of 31 shots. Picard's first goal broke a 1-1 tie and came after St. John's goalie Eddie Pasquale tipped a shot by the Admirals' Mike Kostka into the end boards. Picard, loitering untouched at the left side of the crease, merely had to direct the rebound into the net. Picard added an empty net goal with 52 seconds to play. Richard Panik scored only 51 seconds into the game for Norfolk, and John Albert tied things 1-1 at 1:51 of the second period when he scored for St. John's. Tokarski's win was his second of the series and sixth in eight games since the playoffs began.
